Passiflora Caerulea - Blue Passion Flower - 3L Pot

€31,90

Passiflora caerulea is the hardiest variety of passionflower (-10°C). Its evergreen foliage is lobed.

The blue passionflower offers sublime white flowers with blue stamens that open in the morning and close in the evening. It is a vigorous vine with a long summer flowering period. As soon as the flowers are pollinated, they form large orange fruits. Passiflora caerulea or blue passionflower is a plant with character. It stands out for its decorative appeal: its blue-violet crown with a white ring. Its exotic-shaped flowers are particularly decorative.

Its foliage is more or less evergreen depending on the region. This twining climber is equipped with tendrils that allow it to attach itself to its support. It will thrive on the following supports:

  • Wall
  • Tree
  • Trellis/fencing
  • Wire/cable
  • Pergola

The blue passionflower loves sunny exposures; it is, in fact, an exuberant vine in the southern regions of France. Its spread will be easily controllable in other regions. It is a plant adapted to pot cultivation. Passionflowers are delicate plants and are known to be sensitive to frost.

This variety is undoubtedly the hardiest of all. As a precaution, remember to mulch the base of your Passiflora caerulea before the first frosts. Its ovoid orange fruits are edible but have no culinary interest; however, they provide an excellent food source for birds in the autumn. The slight fragrance and exotic beauty of this plant will be your allies for perfecting your plant decor!

HOW TO PLANT YOUR BLUE PASSIONFLOWER?

All year round, except during periods of extreme cold. Remove the plant from its pot. Soak the root ball in water for 15 minutes. Dig a hole 3 times larger than the root ball and mix a bag of potting soil enriched with fertilizer into the ground. Bury the root ball deep enough (5 cm below ground level). Pack down and water generously (a full watering can).

HOW TO PRUNE YOUR PLANT?

Your passionflower needs a good cleanup at the start of every spring! Prune and remove all the branches that grew the previous year.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR PASSIFLORA CAERULEA?

To be more vigorous and have beautiful colors, fertilize your passionflower at the end of each winter by mixing an organic fertilizer (crushed horn, guano, dried blood...) into the soil, 2 good handfuls per plant. And if you don't want too much weeding work during the year, don't hesitate to mulch the base of your plant. It will limit weed growth and keep the base of your plant cool.

HOW ARE YOUR PLANTS PACKAGED?

We have developed custom-made cardboard boxes for our products to facilitate their packaging and limit transport-related risks. The boxes are adapted to the size of our plants and are equipped with wedges. These four small openings at the ends allow the plant to breathe during the journey. We use a compostable plastic bag made from bio-based materials to cover the base of your plant (the soil is thus well preserved). We use very little adhesive tape and no bubble wrap. One box can hold up to two plants while protecting them effectively.

DPD delivery times are generally 1 to 3 working days after the parcel is picked up. In metropolitan France, home or relay point delivery fees are only €10 (already included in the unit price).
