Goji Berry - Wolfberry / 3 L pot

€42

The taste of the fruit is sweet and mildly tart. The summer flowering of the Goji produces small, purple-violet flowers. It is a hardy variety with very good resistance to cold. A sunny exposure is necessary to produce berries. Climbing habit of 1 to 2 m, a shrub to be attached to a trellis or fence.

The goji, with its Latin name 'Lycium Barbarum', is also called the Duke of Argyll's tea tree. This shrubby plant is native to China and the Far East. It belongs to the Solanaceae family, just like the potato, tomato, bell pepper, and eggplant. Given its origin, the goji grows very well in our regions.

A particularly hardy variety, it is resistant to frost (-20°C). It must be placed in a sunny location to optimize its fruiting. Its fruit production will be higher in Mediterranean regions than in regions north of the Loire. Its berries ripen between August and October, depending on the climate.

The goji is commonly nicknamed the 'happy fruit' thanks to its many virtues. Renowned for their dietary qualities, its berries are a natural source of antioxidants and are low in calories. Its oblong-shaped fruits turn a reddish-orange color. They can be picked and eaten when ripe (very red color). To store goji berries, simply dry them in the shade in a dry place.

The flowering of the goji is very decorative, as its stems are adorned with an abundance of small purple flowers. This shrub can be grown in a large container. In the ground, it can be trained on a trellis or fence by espaliering it.
