'London Market' Redcurrant - Ribes Rubrum / 3 L Pot

€24

This redcurrant bush offers a generous harvest of fruit in summer (June to July). Its clusters of red berries have a sweet and tart taste. This *Ribes rubrum* can be grown in all regions of France. Easy to grow in sunny locations (in a pot or in the ground). It can reach up to 1.5 m at maturity.

The ‘London Market’ redcurrant is an old variety of English origin. It is highly valued for its vigor and its ability to produce large-sized redcurrants. Just like the gooseberry, it belongs to the Grossulariaceae family. The main difference between the redcurrant and the gooseberry is how they produce fruit. The redcurrant, as its name suggests, produces slender clusters on which the fruits are found. The gooseberry bears its fruit directly on its thorny stems.

The ‘London Market’ variety blooms from May onwards, which protects the plant from late frosts. Its honey-producing bloom of small greenish flowers attracts many pollinators (especially bees). Its deciduous, medium-green foliage is made up of palmate leaves. This shrub has sarmentous stems without thorns. Fruiting begins on one- or two-year-old branches.

This redcurrant bush produces beautiful, compact clusters. Its currants are light green at first, then become bright red when ripe. A generous summer harvest of translucent red berries. Delicious redcurrants for eating fresh or in pastries.
